It suddenly dawned on me that I haven't posted for a week. It's not because there isn't anything going on in the garden - there most definitely is - but because Spouse and I have a new addition to the family: Brix, our adopted 6-month old puppy. We got him from Underdog Rescue. He's a cutie, but not fully housebroken. We are spending what seems like every waking hour crate training him, taking him outside for potty breaks, or taking him for long walks to release some of that puppy energy.
We're not sure what Brix's breed mix is. He looks most like a Rhodesian Ridgeback, without the ridge. The vet's first thought was Vizsla. He definitely has some bird dog in him because tracks birds of all kinds - from chickadees to geese - as they fly across the sky. But probably, like Dexter, he's a Heinz 57 dog - all sorts of things are probably in the mix.
Hopefully I'll have time to post some garden pictures soon. Heck, the peas, lettuce, spinach and chard are up outside, and I have seedlings sitting in our office warehouse under lights. Daffodils are already almost done blooming, the lilacs and apple trees have just started, and the bleeding hearts aren't far behind. There's so much going on!
For now, though, here are some pictures of Brix.
Oh - he's adorable. Congrats on the new addition to your family. It will be fun to watch him grow up on your blog - and see all the mischief he will no doubt get into!
Isn't it amazing how quickly everything is growing and starting to bloom? We may have to wait longer for spring in Minnesota, but it sure comes on strong once it starts! Hooray!
