« One plant I hate: Tulips | Main | Rice Creek Gardens to Close »

June 20, 2006

I so agree about the peas. I stopped planting them myself 3 or 4 years ago. While I love fresh peas from the garden - I can do so much more with that space.

Kathi: It's good to hear from a fellow Minnesotan that peas aren't worth the space. I wasn't sure if it was just me, this particular summer, or if generally peas don't do well in our climate. I'll be sticking in some bush bean seed this weekend, which will hopefully ripen before the first frost so I can pickle and/or freeze them. Next year I'll have a new plan.

I stumbled upon this site as I was doing some online research. I have also had difficulty with peas because of uncooperative weather, but, as you said, snap peas are so delicious, they will always be part of my garden.
